Design and installation of air conditioning, ventilation and water services for Oxford laboratory equipment manufacturer
The Client Brief
Our client was expanding into a new unit with offices on the first-floor mezzanine and across 50% of the building’s ground floor. They also had cleanroom labs on the ground floor with HEPA filtration and Nederman specialist extraction systems. Lab sinks, wash hand basins, showers and WC’s were also part of the refurbishment. Keeping noise levels to a minimum was a priority when planning the external plant due to its proximity to nearby homes.
Our Solution
We designed and installed the very latest Daikin VRV IV heat recovery VRV systems and associated Daikin heat recovery ventilation systems. Both of these are extremely energy efficient and can be easily controlled by both a centralised controller and local room controllers.
The Daikin condensing units were installed with ducting behind what was once a roller shutter door that we replaced with a large louvre to maintain low external noise levels.
We ensured that all our systems were carefully balanced to meet the client’s requirements regarding airflows to different labs.
We also installed category 5 water supplies to all lab sinks and category 3 supplies to wash hand basins, showers and WC’s (with associated Vulcathene lab drainage).
The Results
Despite a delay to the mezzanine floor’s steelwork, we met all our completion deadlines to the delight of the client.
