Works undertaken: The design, supply and installation of VRF air conditioning to high specification apartments.

Design and installation of VRF air conditioning for high-spec London apartments.

The Client Brief

Our client needed a solution to accommodate the heating and cooling demands of a large apartment building at Lamb’s Passage in London.

Our Solution

We installed Mitsubishi VRF systems to meet the project requirement of a total of 140 fan coil units. The ability to use just 14 condensing units to serve this number of fan coil units was crucial due to the limited roof space available to put the plant.

We also used a single branch-box per system from which pipework ran to each apartment. This proved to be the most flexible solution in terms of ease of installation.

We installed the ducted VRF fan coil units for each apartment within the room ceiling voids. These units distribute cooled or heated air through supply air grilles and spiral ducting.

Each apartment has its own local control panel and remote temperature sensor for complete end-user control. There is also a centralised controller for the entire system so that individual units can be interrogated without disturbing the apartment occupants.

The Results

This was a complex but rewarding project delivered on time and to the client’s satisfaction.
